Advancing Trauma-Informed Care Through University Partnership

Eagle's Nest Youth Ranch is proud of its contribution to advancing trauma-informed care in Saskatchewan — both for the youth we serve and for the professionals who support them.

ENYR was the subject of a University of Regina Master of Social Work field practicum focused on residential treatment for young children in care. This academic partnership explored the unique challenges and opportunities of caring for children who have experienced trauma.

From that practicum, a valuable training module was developed to help frontline staff better understand child development, the impact of trauma on neurological development, and how to apply the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) with children in care.

Building Knowledge From the Ground Up

The work bridges academic research and real-world frontline practice. By understanding how early trauma shapes a child's developing brain, our staff can respond with greater empathy, patience, and effectiveness.

A Lasting Impact on Saskatchewan Care

This partnership reflects ENYR's commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed care. The training module developed through the practicum continues to strengthen how frontline staff support young children in care across our programs.

We're proud to contribute to the growth of care practices right here in Saskatchewan, and to share what we've learned with the broader community of caregivers.
